Horace Dennis Smith (8 January 1913, Toowoomba, Australia – 25 January 1986, Christchurch, Canterbury) was a New Zealand cricketer who played in one Test in 1933.
He took his only Test wicket with his first delivery, the seventh Test bowler to achieve the feat.[1] The wicket came against England on their 1932–33 tour when he bowled Eddie Paynter, but sent down another 119 deliveries without success and was never picked for his country again.
He played 10 other games of first class cricket, 6 for Canterbury and 4 for Otago, taking 17 wickets at 33.52 in all and scoring 404 runs at 22.44 with a best of 52. He was born on 8 January 1913 in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia and died on 25 January 1986 in Christchurch, Canterbury aged 73.
